Where Queensland members are
Greater Brisbane holds most of Queensland's members, from New Farm and East Brisbane in the inner ring out to Ashgrove, Aspley, Coorparoo and Mount Gravatt, and south to Woodridge and Goodna. The Gold Coast is a strong second, centred on Southport and Surfers Paradise, then the Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba. North Queensland has its own smaller groups in Cairns, Townsville and Mackay.
Couples edge out the single men, and single women are a small group. Both couples and men run a little older than in Sydney.
Brisbane
The CBD, New Farm, East Brisbane and South Brisbane, Ashgrove, Newmarket and Mitchelton, Aspley, Coorparoo, Mount Gravatt and St Lucia, with Woodridge, Goodna, Redcliffe and Deception Bay on the edges.
The Gold Coast
Southport, Surfers Paradise, Burleigh and Coomera.
The Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba
Buderim, Caloundra and Bli Bli on the coast; Toowoomba up the range; Maryborough to the north.
North Queensland
Cairns, Townsville and Aitkenvale, Mackay and Gladstone.
Getting around: The M1 runs from Brisbane to the Gold Coast in about an hour, the Bruce Highway reaches the Sunshine Coast in ninety minutes, and Toowoomba is ninety minutes west on the Warrego. North Queensland is another country by road: Cairns is a two-day drive, so nobody does it for a date.
Meeting up: Brisbane and the Gold Coast are close enough that members often search both, and Fortitude Valley has the busiest bars for a first drink. On the coasts, Surfers and Mooloolaba do the same job.
